Fly cutting

The Fly cutting function is used to sort and adjust laser processing of hole patterns so that fly cutting can be applied.

Elements that are aligned in the X or Y direction are overrun in one cutting line ( fly line) with the laser. The laser does not pierce each time, but is only activated or deactivated. Fly cutting is therefore only suitable for thin sheets in combination with a sufficiently powerful laser and a precise positioning system of the machine.

Prerequisites of the geometry:

  • The hole pattern consists of rectangles or round holes
  • The elements are aligned in the X or Y direction
NOTICE
Repeating the function

Before executing the function again and/or changing the parameters, the part should be re-machined using the Laser Auto function.

Sort laser processing for fly cutting

  • The geometrical requirements are fulfilled.
  • Laser processing for the hole pattern is available.
  1. Under Lasering > Extras > Optimizer, click the Fly cutting button.
  1. Select the method for creating the cutting lines that corresponds to your hole pattern.
  1. Configure your desired settings.
  1. Click OK.
  1. Select a method for selecting NC elements.
  1. Select all elements of the hole pattern accordingly.
  1. If you want to select another similar hole pattern, right-click and repeat the previous step.
  1. Click on Close.
  • The laser processing of the hole pattern is sorted and adjusted accordingly.
